Service
What is service?
As one of the three tenets, service is the action of helping or doing work for someone and it's the fundamental element of Circle K International. Collectively, Circle K members perform more than one million hours of service on their campuses and in their communities annually. Without service, Circle K International would be just another campus activity. Through service, college students are making the world a better place one service project at a time. Together, members of Circle K truly make a difference in the community.
At CSULB CKI, we have continuing service events that we do at least once a month, such as Meals on Wheels, Monday Night Mission, and Bolsa Chica Wetlands Restoration. We also volunteer for various marathons, festivals, and food banks.

Compton Initiative
Featured Service Event
Compton Initiative is a service event where volunteers can beautify elementary schools, like painting walls with inspirational quotes and colorize trash cans, clean windows, rake leaves, and pick-up trash. The goal is to enrich the children's environment and to create a joyful and uplifting atmosphere. This service event contributes to the International Service Initiative - "Focusing on the Future Children".
Service Initiatives & Events
For the 2017-2018 term, the District Service Initiative (DSI) is "Be the Change - Personal Health". Sometimes, we get caught up with our responsibilities like work, school, family, and friends, that we forget to take care of ourselves. Our personal health is a combination of emotional well-being, mental, and physical factors, and you should strive to be the best version of yourself!
To apply this year's DSI into Circle K, we will become the force of positive change in our communities and show the general public how to practice healthy behaviors. Examples of our DSI would be Help Me Help You, Monday Night Mission, Meals on Wheels, OC Food Bank, Relay for Life and various marathon volunteering. |
Secondly, the International Service Initiative (ISI) is "Focusing on the Future Children". The international board would like the entire Circle K International community to attend events that contributes services to kids.
To apply our ISI into Circle K, we will beautify school walls, trash cans, and playgrounds to enrich the children's environment (Compton Initiative) or volunteer as a waiter at a Boys and Girls Club center to provide a luxury restaurant experience for the most in-need families (Family Meal Night). |
